The arrest of Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra is significant as both had fled the country on the night the fire broke out at the club in Goa. At the time when the fire brigade was trying to douse the fire in the nightclub, and the news of the death of 25 people in the fire was coming, Saurabh and Gaurav booked a ticket to Thailand and before the fire in the club could be extinguished, the police would have been active. It is to be noted that as soon as the Blue Corner Notice was issued against them at the behest of the Goa Police, both of them applied for anticipatory bail in a Delhi court through a lawyer, which was rejected by the court.
The arguments made by the lawyers of the Luthra brothers in the court are worth hearing. These arguments show how vicious the two brothers are. These two brothers made a lot of money in the nightclub and cafe business in a few years, many of their companies were running from the same address, and they had put the rules and laws on the back burner. Usually, criminals who flee the country are difficult to bring back. This takes time. Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra are brothers. He knew that a visa on arrival was required to go to Thailand. Therefore, the two fled to Phuket a few hours after the incident and were preparing to flee to another country from there, but the Goa Police along with the central agencies were constantly tracking the two brothers.
It was learnt that the fire broke out at the club in Goa at 11.39 pm on December 6, around 12 am, the fire brigade and police reached the spot. The accident was huge, people were trapped in the fire, many people were reported dead, club owners Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra were present at a wedding in Delhi at that time. Both of them didn't worry about the people burning in their club. The two booked their tickets for Phuket on an IndiGo flight at 1: 07 pm.
