The Delhi High Court is likely to hear today (Monday) the plea of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) challenging the bail granted to AAP convener and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case. The Supreme Court had in July granted interim bail to Kejriwal so that he could campaign in the Lok Sabha elections. Earlier, a special ED court had granted regular bail to Kejriwal, but the high court had stayed that order.The matter will be heard in the court of Justice Ravinder Dujeda on Monday. On January 17, Kejriwal's lawyer had opposed the ED's plea and appealed to the court to stay the proceedings. Senior advocate Zoheb Hussain, appearing for the ED, had sought adjournment of the hearing as Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, who also appears for the ED in the apex court, was not available. Kejriwal's counsel Vikram Chaudhary opposed the adjournment and said that the ED has been continuously dilly-dallying in the case since July 2024.Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 in a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped liquor policy. Later, he was also arrested in a corruption case on June 26. The ED had filed a petition to cancel the bail granted to Kejriwal by the trial court on June 20, 2024. After this, on June 25, 2024, the High Court had stayed the bail order of the lower court.
