The Aarey Colony police have arrested 35-year-old Rajshree Ahire for allegedly conspiring with her boyfriend to kill her husband Bharat Laxman Ahire, a professional make-up artist. Her boyfriend Chandrashekhar Padayachi and his accomplice Ranga are absconding in the case. According to the police, Rajashree's affair with Chandrashekhar led to the murder. Last month, when Bharat asked his wife about it, she accused him of harassment. Bharat then called Chandrashekhar, who called him to meet him near a public toilet in Unit No. 31, Ektanagar, Aarey Colony, Goregaon East. During this time, Rajashree also went to the meeting place with her husband.
On the night of July 15, when Chandrashekhar and Ranga met Bharat, they started assaulting him. Chandrashekhar started punching her chest, stomach and other parts of the body. According to the police, Ranga held Bharat from behind during the attack. Despite witnessing the attack, Rajashree neither intervened nor sought help. As soon as locals started gathering at the spot, the two assailants fled. Instead of taking her husband to the hospital, Rajashree took him home and kept him there without any treatment for three days. During this time, the couple's two daughters, aged 13, 5, and son, aged 3, witnessed their father's deteriorating condition. When she started vomiting blood, the eldest daughter informed the relatives. Then Bharat's sister-in-law came to their house, where Rajashree claimed that Bharat was injured in a bike accident. Finally, he was admitted to a super-speciality hospital in Pathanwadi, Malad East. At the hospital, Rajashree repeated the false claim and Bharat, under pressure, repeated the same story out of fear. The statement was recorded in the medico-legal case (MLC) report submitted to the police.
