Information about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's graduation degree will not be disclosed! High Court cancels order of Central Information Commission
The university refused, citing rules on not sharing information related to third parties. However, the Chief Information Commission (CIC) did not accept this argument and ordered DU to allow the inspection in December 2016. The educational qualifications of any public figure, especially the Prime Minister, should be transparent, the CIC said. The CIC also said that the register containing this information will be treated as a public document.

The Delhi High Court has quashed the Central Information Commission's (CIC) order to disclose information related to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's graduation degree. The Delhi University had challenged the Central Information Commission's order. On the basis of an RTI application filed by the CIC in 2016, Delhi University was directed to disclose information related to PM Modi's graduation degree. According to Delhi High Court judge Sachin Dutta's order, disclosure of educational records and degrees is not mandatory. The legal battle over the disclosure of PM Modi's academic records has been going on for years. After filing an application under the Right to Information (RTI), the Central Information Commission on December 21, 2016, allowed inspection of records of all students who passed the BA examination in 1978. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also passed the test.
