Government-CJP talks called off Protest over Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation
After the meeting, CJP spokesperson Saurabh Das said the outfit was not ready to budge from its first demand. He made it clear that the agitation will continue till Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. He also accused the Delhi Police of still detaining activists and students involved in the protests. He, however, admitted that the government has given positive signals on issues related to compensation and legal action.
New Delhi: A crucial meeting between the central government and representatives of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) was held at Vittal House in New Delhi on Friday amid the ongoing student agitation over the NEET paper leak case. Union Health Minister J P Nadda and Minister of State in the PMO Dr Jitendra Singh interacted with the agitating representatives.
In the meeting, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, on behalf of the CJP, once again placed their three major demands before the government. The first demand was the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The second demand was to provide financial compensation to the families of those who allegedly committed suicide due to mental trauma caused by the NEET paper leak. The third demand was to withdraw all cases registered against the students and supporters involved in the agitation and not to take any legal action in future.
Positive signals on two demands, but government's clear refusal on resignation
According to sources, the government is showing a positive attitude on issues like compensation and withdrawal of cases against agitators. However, the government has not agreed to the demand for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The government side says that the resignation of the minister alone is not the solution. The focus of the government is to plug the loopholes in the examination system, ensure strict action against the culprits and prevent recurrence of such incidents in future. In this direction, it is also being considered to conduct the NEET examination online in the future.
The CJP's statement: The agitation will continue till the resignation is withdrawn.

The government is in action mode, announcing many big decisions
Meanwhile, social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike over the NEET paper leak case, ended his fast late on Thursday night. Union Health Minister J P Nadda and Minister of State in the PMO Dr Jitendra Singh offered him juice to break his fast.
The government has claimed to take several important steps after this whole controversy. These include speedy trial of cases through fast track courts, passage of amendment bill to prevent copying and comprehensive reforms in the examination system.
