Apart from the desire to get rid of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, the struggle for seats, and the aim of becoming Prime Minister and Chief Minister, does the India alliance have any concrete reasons to stay together?
After the election results of Maharashtra, Congress, the largest party within the alliance, has come at the center of criticism, and there are solid reasons for that too. Being a big party has not only benefits but also responsibilities, if the Congress leadership still does not understand this, then the questions on the role of the party will deepen. However, the question related to their respective roles is before all the parties involved in the alliance.
There are difficult questions before the India alliance. The election results of Maharashtra have deepened the question whether this alliance has been able to decide on any common objective even after one and a half years of its formation? Before every election, there is a tug of war between the parties involved for seats and not being able to present a face for the post of Chief Minister. Differences on the issue of BJP and lack of coordination in the election campaign have become a common story. After the formation of the alliance, when the first elections were held in November-December 2023, the rift between the parties was clearly visible. Certainly in the Lok Sabha elections Things seemed to be settling down a bit, but as soon as it came to Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand, old tensions emerged. The alliance did not understand the need for a common minimum program right from the beginning. Apart from the desire to get rid of Narendra Modi- Amit Shah, it is making it difficult to find any issue and consensus among them. Such negative politics never works. (India alliance) Even though there was a lightning-like hope in the Lok Sabha elections, their own efforts had little contribution behind it. Now it seems that the loss that was caused then, has been compensated to a great extent by the BJP through its politics of polarization and equation making. The main reason for this is that the India alliance has failed to convey the message that it has a better agenda for the development of the country and the betterment of the common people. In its absence, the alliance becomes merely a medium for coordination of seats. In this form, this effort may be beneficial in certain circumstances, but no alliance will be able to present any decisive challenge to the ruling party.
