After being exposed on the issue of terrorism around the world, Pakistan has come on the backfoot. Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif called the Simla Agreement a "dead document." On Friday (June 6, 2025), Pakistan's Defence Ministry said that no decision has been taken to cancel any bilateral agreement with India, including this historic agreement. The Pakistan Foreign Office said that while internal discussions in Islamabad have intensified following the recent developments, there has been no official move to cancel the existing agreement with India. "At present, there is no formal decision to terminate any bilateral agreement with India," Pakistan's Foreign Office said in a statement.
