Uncle Raj Thackeray fields assembly candidate against nephew Aditya Thackeray
Elections to the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly are to be held later this year. This will be the first election to be held in the state after the split between Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party following internal rebellion.

ELECTION NEWS - Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray has announced the names of candidates for two assembly seats for the upcoming elections in the state. Bala Nandgaonkar will contest from Mumbai's Shivri assembly constituency, while Dilip Dhotre will contest from Pandharpur. According to PTI report, quoting sources, Thackeray may contest the upcoming elections from Mumbai's Worli seat against his nephew and Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray by fielding MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande.
Last month, Thackeray had announced that his party would contest 200 to 250 seats independently. He has also criticized the state administration, questioning the financial viability of the Mahayuti alliance. Challenging the financial feasibility of the Mahayuti alliance's plans, Thackeray said the Maharashtra government lacks funds to repair potholes, how will they raise funds for 'Laadli Behan' and 'Laadla Bhai'.Momentum has begun to gather for the Maharashtra Assembly elections to be held later this year. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray is set for a three-day visit to Delhi, where he will meet top leaders of the India block.
