India has once again made its stand very clear and strict on the Indus Waters Treaty. With Pakistan taking the matter to the so-called Court of Arbitration, India has made it clear that the decision to keep the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance will remain in force indefinitely. India also made it clear that no external entity has any locus standi on its sovereign decisions and ongoing water projects in India.
According to the official statement of the Ministry of External Affairs, the so-called Court of Arbitration has issued an award regarding the interim measures and the current situation related to the Indus Waters Treaty. India has rejected the award.
The Ministry of External Affairs said the so-called court was set up by the World Bank in violation of the terms of the treaty. Terming it as a "so-called institution created through illegal means," India said it has never recognised the existence of the body.

India's most important message is about the Indus Waters Treaty. The Ministry of External Affairs has reiterated that India's decision to keep the treaty in abeyance will be effective. That is, despite Pakistan's objections or the so-called arbitration process, India is in no mood to go back on its decision.
India's stand is clear. The sovereign decision taken on the treaty will remain intact and there will be no impact on India's policy or projects due to the decision of any illegal or so-called arbitration institution.
