Moscow. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday, 24 August 2026. Several important issues, including India-Russia relations, bilateral trade and the upcoming BRICS summit, were discussed in the meeting. After the meeting, Jaishankar said that India is fully prepared to host the BRICS Summit in Delhi and welcome the member countries.

Jaishankar also conveyed greetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his meeting with Putin. He said Prime Minister Modi has a personal message for the Russian President which he would like to convey to him. The External Affairs Minister also referred to the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission meeting and said both countries have a good report to share after the meeting.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted Russian President Vladimir Putin on his birthday. He said he looks forward to meeting Prime Minister Modi face-to-face during the upcoming SCO Summit in Kyrgyzstan.
