The Supreme Court will speak to Harish's parents before granting him euthanasia! 31-year-old Harish has been on a ventilator for 12 years.

In the process of passive euthanasia (euthanasia), the patient is allowed to die by stopping the treatment that keeps him alive. The Supreme Court in its 2018 verdict had laid down the guidelines in this regard. Two medical reports are required. In Harish's case, both reports say it is almost impossible for him to recover. Being kept alive with the help of a ventilator is painful for them.

The Supreme Court will speak to Harish's parents before granting him euthanasia! 31-year-old Harish has been on a ventilator for 12 years.

The Supreme Court has said that it will talk to the parents of critically ill Harish of Ghaziabad before giving him 'Ichcha Mrityu'. The court has fixed January 13 as the date for the hearing. A bench headed by Justice J B Pardiwala passed the order after perusing the report of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Harish's condition.
On December 11, the court had asked AIIMS to conduct a medical examination of 32-year-old Harish Rana and submit a report. After perusing the report, the judges expressed regret. The court said that necessary steps will have to be taken in this matter, but before that it is necessary to talk to the parents of the youth face to face. The judges ordered that a copy of the medical report be given to the boy's family.
Harish, who was studying in Chandigarh, had fallen from the fourth floor of his paying guest hostel in 2013. He suffered serious injuries to his head. He has been bedridden since then. He has 100 per cent disability. His life is still going on because he is on a ventilator. The parents, who had given up hope of the son's recovery, now want him to be given passive euthanasia.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had sought a report from the district hospital in Noida on 31-year-old Harish. The medical report of the district hospital stated that his condition was critical. They are unlikely to be healthy. Due to continuous stay in bed, bed noise (wounds) have formed on his body. He's in a lot of pain.

The Supreme Court in its 2018 verdict had laid down the guidelines in this regard. Two medical reports are required. In Harish's case, both reports say it is almost impossible for him to recover.
