Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on Monday (May 12, 2025) amid rising tension and military activities between India and Pakistan. The meeting will be held around 8:00 PM. His address comes at a time when both countries have mutually agreed to stop all military attacks on land, air, and sea, and the DGMO-level talks are scheduled to be held this evening. After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor against terrorists, destroying 9 terrorist bases in PoK as well as inside Pakistan. According to the Indian Army, this attack was taken over by the Pakistan Army, and an attempt was made to target India's civilian and military bases. The Indian Army retaliated strongly to the firing by Pakistani troops. During the Pahalgam terror attack, PM Modi was on a visit to Saudi Arabia, and as soon as he got the news of the attack, he immediately left the tour, rushed back to the country, and held back-to-back meetings to take stock of the situation. Their round of meetings continued even during Operation Sindoor. Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi held a high-level meeting ahead of the scheduled talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan, which were attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The meeting was attended by NSA Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the three service chiefs.
