South superstar Rajinikanth is all set to make his big screen debut with the action thriller "Coolie." The film is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Kalaniridhi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. The makers of the film released the official trailer of 'Coolie' at a grand event in Chennai on 2 August 2025. The new avatar of Thalaiva Rajinikanth has taken social media by storm and fans are excited for the film. The film is written by Chandru Anbazhagan and Lokesh Kanagaraj. Apart from Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan's special cameos, there is another reason that has got everyone talking about the film, and that is its release date. Lokesh Kanagaraj's action film will clash with Bollywood's action thriller film 'War 2' at the box office. 'War 2 ', a sequel to the 2019 film' War ', features big stars like Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. It will be interesting to see which film dominates the box office. Talking about the release date, Rajinikanth starrer Coolie will hit the silver screen on Thursday, August 14, 2025, clashing with Ayan Mukerji's' War 2 '. Both the films could benefit from India's Independence Day, i.e. August 15, 2025, which falls on a Friday, giving them a long weekend. Before its worldwide release, Coolie will have special premiere shows at select locations in North America. According to reports, the film is doing well in advance bookings for its USA premiere. The Rajinikanth-starrer action thriller grossed a total of USD 969,551 from 1,159 shows, selling over 37,000 tickets.
