Supreme Court's big decision on child porn - sending child porn to others, downloading it or keeping it in your phone's gallery is also a serious crime!

The Supreme Court has given a big verdict on child porn and has made it clear that not only broadcasting child porn to others is a crime, but downloading it, watching it and keeping it with you all fall in the category of crime. The Supreme Court, while giving a historic verdict on Monday, rejected the order of the Madras High Court, which had said that privately viewing or downloading child pornography does not come under the purview of the POCSO Act. Supreme Court said that viewing and possessing child pornographic material is also an offense under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses). The Supreme Court said that child pornography will be considered a crime under Section 15(1) of the POCSO Act. The court said that even if a person does not intend to publish such a video or send it to someone else, it will still be considered a crime under the POCSO Act.
