Amid the ongoing tariff dispute with the US, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Japan and China are important for bringing stability to the global economic system.
"India agrees to pursue bilateral relations with China in a strategic and long-term perspective, based on mutual respect, common interests and mutual sensitivity. It is also ready to enhance strategic communication to address developmental challenges. On Japan's concept of an "open and free Indo-Pacific," the Prime Minister said there is a deep convergence between this vision of Japan and India's Vision Ocean and Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative. He said both India and Japan are committed to making the Indo-Pacific region peaceful, prosperous, stable, respectful of sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations.
