Pune: A big development has taken place in the famous Ketan Agarwal murder case on Monday (June 29). The Lonavala police produced the two accused, Siya Goel and Chetan Chaudhary, before the Maval court, which remanded them in police custody till July 3.
During the hearing, the police sought seven days' additional custody from the court, saying several important aspects related to the murder conspiracy were yet to be investigated. According to the police, the deleted data from the mobile phones of the accused has to be recovered and it has to be forensically examined. It is also being ascertained as to who all were contacted by the accused at Lohgarh Fort.
The investigating agencies are also probing whether a recce of the Lohgarh fort was conducted before the incident and whether any alternative social media platforms were used to hatch the conspiracy. The police told the court that Ketan Agarwal's passport, which was allegedly thrown on the way, is yet to be recovered.
Apart from this, the clothes worn by accused Chetan Chaudhary at the time of the incident are also yet to be seized. Police say that the scene of the incident has been recreated before, but it is necessary to recreate the whole incident again by taking both the accused together.
At the same time, the defense opposed the police custody, saying that the technical investigation, interrogation and recreation of the scene have already been done. Therefore, further investigation is technical in nature and police custody is not required. The defence also termed the arrest as illegal and demanded the court to accept their application.
