The fifth session of the 18th Lok Sabha began on July 21 in which 14 government bills were introduced and 12 bills were passed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched severe attack against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Taking a dig at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said many opposition leaders are talented and good orators, but they do not get a chance to speak because of Rahul Gandhi. "The Congress party interferes because there are some leaders in the opposition who speak better than Rahul Gandhi and they don't want that. The Prime Minister made the remarks during a tea party, which was not attended by any opposition MPs and was restricted to NDA leaders. During the tea party, PM Modi further said that the opposition MPs are forced to disrupt the proceedings of the Parliament as they are better speakers than Rahul Gandhi, but the leaders of the opposition in the Lok Sabha do not want to encourage them. Parliament proceedings have been regularly disrupted by opposition MPs. After the Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die, Speaker Om Birla held a tea party. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other leaders of the party attended the ceremony. The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned sine die on Thursday.
