The promise of free schemes has been overshadowed in the ongoing political tussle over the Delhi assembly elections. The BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party are making all efforts to woo the people. There is a lot of promise of freebies, now the people of Delhi are also confused on whose promise to trust and on whom not to trust. Let us tell you that only a few days are left for voting in Delhi, polling will be held on February 5 and counting of votes will be done on February 8. Let's take a look at the promises made before the elections.

BJP promises

The BJP manifesto lays emphasis on women and promises a monthly assistance of ₹2,500 under the 'Mahila Samriddhi Yojana'. The manifesto also announced ₹21,000 and six nutrition kits for every pregnant woman under the 'Mukhyamantri Matritva Suraksha Yojana'.

"If the BJP comes to power, all the existing public welfare schemes will be continued and made more effective by eliminating corruption," the manifesto said. The party has also promised an LPG cylinder at Rs 500 for the poor section along with a free cylinder on Holi and Diwali.

Senior citizen pension will be increased from ₹2,000 to ₹2,500 for people aged 60 to 70 years; and from ₹2,500 to ₹3,000 for senior citizens, widows, disabled and destitute above 70 years of age.

Aam Aadmi Party's announcement

The Aam Aadmi Party has announced a grant of Rs 2,100 for women.

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal had announced in December that senior citizens above 60 years of age will get free treatment in both government and private hospitals under a new scheme called Sanjeevani Yojana.

Arvind Kejriwal also recently announced that if AAP returns to power in Delhi, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) will be given money to hire private security guards.

In December, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal announced five guarantees for auto drivers in Delhi ahead of the assembly elections. The key guarantees include life insurance of ₹1 lakh and ₹10 lakh for the marriage of daughters.

Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday promised to cover tenants in Delhi under his free electricity and water scheme.

The promise of Congress

In the Delhi elections, the Congress party promised to give Rs 8500 per month to the unemployed youth. Along with this, they will be provided on a one-year apprenticeship. The purpose of this scheme is to provide employment opportunities to them.

To attract Purvanchali voters, the party has announced to organise the Chhath festival on the lines of Mahakumbh. The party said a place will be earmarked for it on the banks of the Yamuna and it will be named after late folk singer Sharda Sinha. 

The Congress promised to provide LPG cylinders at Rs 500 to the people of Delhi to give them relief from inflation. The Congress also promised free ration kits and free electricity up to 300 units.
