Delhiites will get a big shock of electricity bills in the months of May and June! Electricity bills will be 10 percent higher
" Gandhi claimed. "Now we had a great expectation from the commission that it would complete the work of tariff determination following the prescribed procedure, but this commission held a virtual public hearing, in which the stakeholders were not given enough time to present their side."

In the months of May and June, the electricity bill in Delhi will be 7-10 percent higher. Officials said on Sunday that the discoms have revised the PPAC rates. The effect of this will be visible in the coming months. Power Purchase Adjustment Cost (PPAC) refers to the increase in the cost of fuel (coal, gas) incurred by power generation companies, which discoms recover from consumers. It is calculated as a percentage of the fixed charges and energy charges (units consumed) components of the electricity bill. The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC), in its separate orders earlier this month, had allowed the three discoms to recover PPAC for the third quarter of 2024-25 in the May-June 2024 period. 7.25% PPAC has been permitted for BRPL, 8.11% for BYPL, and 10.47% for TPDDL. The United Residents of Delhi (URD), an umbrella body of resident welfare associations in the city, condemned the move as "arbitrary." In a statement, URD general secretary Saurabh Gandhi said, "The procedure under which the PPAC fee has been imposed on the people of Delhi by the DERC is legally wrong." There was no immediate response from the DRC to the allegation. "For the last several years, the commission has been benefiting the power companies through other means," Gandhi claimed. "Now we had a great expectation from the commission that it would complete the work of tariff determination following the prescribed procedure, but this commission held a virtual public hearing, in which the stakeholders were not given enough time to present their side."
