NATIONAL NEWS - The bugle of assembly elections has been sounded in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana.. The Election Commission has announced the dates in both the states Voter list will be released in Jammu and Kashmir on August 20. He said that people have shown enthusiasm for the elections. The Election Commission is busy preparing for the elections. There is nothing clear about the election dates of Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Apart from this, assembly by-elections are to be held in some states of the country. Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election is also to be held. Assembly elections were last held in Jammu and Kashmir 10 years ago i.e. in 2014. After that in 2018, the government fell in Jammu and Kashmir and President's rule was imposed. After that, in August 2019, with the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the statehood was abolished and divided into two union territories. Since then the command of Jammu and Kashmir is in the hands of the Lieutenant Governor. Following the order of the Supreme Court, assembly elections are to be held in Jammu and Kashmir by 30 September. In such a situation, the Election Commission can announce the dates today i.e. on 16th August. In 2014, BJP and PDP formed a coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir. But in 2018, BJP distanced itself from PDP and the government fell. Recently the Election Commission had visited Jammu-Kashmir and Haryana. After this, speculations started being made that the Election Commission may soon announce the dates of assembly elections in both the states.
