Mother killed her 5 year old daughter in an attempt to run away with her boyfriend

A shocking case of extra-marital affair has come to light at Sonamura in Sipahijala district of Tripura. A mother here killed her five-month-old daughter just because she had to run away with her boyfriend. Police have arrested the woman. Her mother's name is Sushmita Dev. Suchitra Debbarma is accused of killing her own infant at Rampadapara village under the administration of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), police sources said. His brother lodged a complaint with the police. Police sources further said that the infant died when the woman's husband Amit Debbarma was working in a rubber plantation outside the house. After receiving information about the incident, the police rushed to the spot. Her body was found lying on the bed. She was later taken to a local hospital in Sonamura for a post-mortem. Police sources said investigations are on to ascertain the cause of the infant's death as the mother is alleged to have killed her. Police sources also said that prima facie it appears that Suchitra strangulated the child to death while she was on her way to work at her husband Amit Debbarma's rubber plantation. During interrogation, she confessed that she wanted to kill the infant and elope with another man with whom she was having an extra-marital affair.
