In some ways, the tragedy in Telangana is similar to the Silkyara tunnel tragedy in Uttarakhand. Techniques like auger machines, vertical drilling and rat mining were used in that rescue operation.
The tunnel, which is about 10 meters in length and exactly the same diameter, has captured 8 lives in Telangana. Relief and rescue work is being done on a war footing. All possible efforts are being made by the central and state governments. Rat miners have also been deployed in Uttarakhand to rescue stranded construction workers in 2023. But it's a serious challenge. This is going to be more challenging than the operation for the labourers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand.
