The bodies have been identified and handed over to the families after the Air India AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Meanwhile, two families of the victims in the UK have claimed that they have received the wrong bodies. A family in London did not cremate the body when the family came to know about it after a DNA test.
According to the Daily Mail report, another family found the remains of the deceased mixed with the remains of another passenger. The families of the victims allege that the DNA matching of the deceased was not done properly after the accident, due to which they transported the wrong bodies to the UK. According to reports, many British nationals were cremated in India, while the bodies of 12 passengers were sent to the UK.
"We have seen the report and we are working with the British side," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said. "After the tragic accident in Ahmedabad, the authorities concerned had identified the victims as per protocol and technical requirements. All the mortal remains were handled in a very professional manner and with utmost care for the dignity of the deceased. We continue to work closely with the British authorities to address any concerns related to this issue. "
