The first government taxi service in the country is about to start. The service is called India Taxi. As a pilot project, it will first start in Delhi from November, with 650 drivers. After Delhi, it will be extended to other parts of the country. Five thousand drivers across the country will be associated with this scheme, including women drivers. At present, private companies like Ola and Uber are working in the field of taxi service in the country. But many times questions related to their safety come up, due to which the government is going to start its own supervised taxi service in the country. Bharat Taxi is the first national cooperative ride-hailing platform jointly launched by the Ministry of Cooperation and the National e-Governance Division. The driver will also be a co-owner. The government has recently signed an MoU with Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited for this. The Bharat Taxi app will be similar to Ola and Uber. It can be downloaded from the App Store in November.
