All three charges against former Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Varma proven; inquiry report tabled in Parliament.

Former Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Verma has been charged with contempt of court. New Delhi: New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a money laundering case against former Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Verma in connection with a money laundering case. The report of the inquiry committee, which was tabled in Parliament, has upheld all the three allegations levelled against Justice Verma. The committee also said that the explanation given by Justice Verma regarding the recovered cash was not satisfactory.

The Supreme Court had constituted a three-member committee to probe the matter. After this, more than 200 MPs had demanded to start the impeachment process to remove Justice Verma from the post.
Though Justice Verma resigned from his post in April 2026, his resignation is yet to be accepted. In such a situation, the presentation of the investigation report in Parliament has once again brought this entire matter to the center of discussion at the national level.
The committee's findings on all three allegations
In its report tabled in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the inquiry committee considered all the three allegations levelled against Justice Verma as substantiated. The report also described his answers regarding the recovered cash as unsatisfactory.
Now after this report, the picture has become more important for further constitutional and parliamentary action against Justice Verma. The matter is considered very serious as it is related to the accountability of the judiciary, judicial conduct and the credibility of constitutional institutions.
