Bihar will go to polls on November 6 and November 11. According to the Election Commission, the results of the assembly elections will be released on November 14. In the first phase, 121 seats will go to polls and in the second phase, 122 seats will go to polls.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was also present at the press conference. With the press conference of the Election Commission, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in Bihar. There will not be more than twelve hundred voters in any booth in the Bihar Assembly elections. For the first time, voters will be able to carry mobile phones to the polling booth. Polling agents will be able to sit outside 100 meters of the polling center. The colour photographs of the candidates will be displayed on the EVMs so that the voters can identify the candidates.
The Bihar elections are significant in many ways. This is because after 22 years, the voter list in Bihar has been revised and a new voter list has been prepared. Before SIR, there were about 7 crore 89 lakh voters in Bihar. After SIR, now 7 crore 42 lakh people will vote in Bihar. After the revision of the voter list, the names of about 65 lakh voters have been deleted while about 21 lakh new voters have been added. This time, there are 47 lakh fewer voters than before. That's about 6% of the total voters.
According to the new voter list released by the Election Commission, there are 3 crore 92 lakh male voters in the state while the number of female voters is around 3 crore 50 lakh. There are 14 lakh new voters in the age group of 18-19 years. At the same time, the number of voters above 85 years is 4 lakh 3 thousand.
