India has included the official Indian names of 27 places and geographical features of Arunachal Pradesh in its map. China has termed India's move as "illegal and invalid," but India has categorically stated that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inalienable part of India.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal categorically rejected China's claim and made it clear that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India and no statement, claim or action can change this undeniable reality.
India's response to China's name change
In fact, China has been continuously changing the names of various places in Arunachal Pradesh since 2017. China's Ministry of Civil Affairs periodically releases a list of Chinese names for these places. In April this year, China had released a list of new names of several places in Arunachal Pradesh.
India has always described China's actions as baseless, futile and ridiculous. It has been India's clear stand that merely changing the names of places does not change the ground reality.

India's stand is very clear. Arunachal Pradesh was, is and will always be an integral part of India. No matter how many times China changes the names of places or changes its map, it cannot change the reality on the ground.
China's state-run Global Times also carried a cautionary report on India's move, claiming it could escalate tensions along the border. The report accused India of taking unilateral steps.
For India, however, the message is clear that a country's arbitrary naming policy cannot be the basis of its territorial claims. Instead of bowing down to such attempts of China, India has put forward its position in a stronger way by registering Indian names in its official map and records.

India has signalled to China that attempts to exert pressure through rhetoric on border-related issues will no longer be accepted. India's claim over Arunachal Pradesh is historically, administratively and constitutionally clear.
Despite China's objection, India's stand is firm. The politics of changing names does not change borders or sovereignty. Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inalienable part of India.
