Protest by BJP MLAs at CM's residence or 'conspiracy to murder'? Jharkhand minister Irfan Ansari

Ranchi. A major political controversy has erupted in Jharkhand with Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari levelling serious allegations against Chief Minister Hemant Soren over the sit-in protest by BJP MLAs outside his official residence. The minister claimed that the protest was not just a political protest but the possibility of a conspiracy to kill the chief minister could not be ruled out.

Ansari said Chief Minister Hemant Soren, along with his wife and children, was present inside the residence when the BJP MLAs were protesting outside the chief minister's residence. Describing it as a serious matter related to the security of the Chief Minister, the minister has demanded an inquiry into the entire incident.

The health minister questioned how serious the situation could have been if the chief minister's official residence was located on the roadside and someone had broken the security cordon during the protest.

He said the Chief Minister was at home with his family. In such a situation, responsibility for any untoward incident should be fixed. The minister has demanded from the assembly speaker that those involved in the protest outside the chief minister's residence be identified and it be investigated as to what was the real intention behind the protest.

The minister said the chief minister reportedly escaped a major threat. "How can a dharna by BJP MLAs to reach the Chief Minister's residence during the Assembly proceedings be categorised as a normal political protest," he asked.

Irfan Ansari also said that if the investigation reveals any facts of conspiracy to harm or attempt to kill the Chief Minister, then strictest action should be taken against the culprits.

However, there has been no independent confirmation of the minister's allegations of a conspiracy to assassinate the chief minister. The entire picture will be clear only after the BJP's response to this allegation comes out.

Political temperature rises as students protest

The entire controversy has come to light at a time when the students' movement is continuing in Jharkhand over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. The government and the opposition are at loggerheads over the demands of the students.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said that the government is ready to accept most of the demands of the students. He has also said to review the complaints related to the examination system and if needed, all the examinations will be investigated.
