A 10-year-old boy was allegedly killed by a woman along with her paramour in Ramnagar police station area of Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh. Police was informed about it. Police arrested the woman, her boyfriend Faizan and her accomplice Rashid in the case. Faizan was arrested after an encounter on Tuesday night, they said. He said he was shot in the leg. According to the police, Sona Sharma, a resident of Macharhatta in Ramnagar, was living with her 10-year-old son Suraj and 5-year-old daughter after her husband died in an accident two years ago. During this time, she developed a love affair with Faizan, a resident of Golaghat, who used to visit her house frequently, he said. "Three days ago, Sooraj saw his mother and Faizan in a compromising position in their bedroom," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police T Sarvanan said. The woman and her boyfriend panicked for fear of the child revealing their secret. After this, Faizan planned to eliminate the boy. "On Monday evening, Faizan lured Suraj and took him to the bushes of Bavan Bigha ground. There, with the help of his friend Rashid, he allegedly strangled the boy to death and hid the body. In an attempt to cover up the crime, Sona Sharma lodged a missing complaint at Ramnagar police station at around 1:30 pm, claiming that her son had been kidnapped, he said. "Police have registered a case and started investigation. On Tuesday night, police recovered Suraj's body from the bushes of Bawan Bigha. During the subsequent investigation, the mother's behaviour aroused suspicion and she was heard repeatedly taking Faizan's name. The police immediately took Faizan and Rashid into custody. There he snatched the pistol of a police officer and tried to fire at the team. In retaliation, the police shot him in the right leg, following which he was arrested. Fearing that his affair would be exposed, Faizan killed Suraj, the officer said. Her mother and her boyfriend had planned the kidnapping to mislead the police. The three accused have been arrested and are being interrogated.
