Mamata Banerjee had never imagined that her party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), would have to fight for its survival after the debacle in the West Bengal assembly elections. But what is happening in Bengal politics today is being considered as the biggest political crisis in the history of TMC.
In the last few days, there has been such a wave of rebellion within the party that resignations of big leaders and open protests have now become normal events. The biggest question now is whether it is just the resentment of disgruntled leaders or is the TMC really heading towards its biggest political split? If this discontent of MPs and MLAs increases further, then the entire equation of Bengal's politics can change.
