After the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission and the BJP. Gandhi claimed that the Chief Election Commissioner cannot function without political patronage and alleged that Gyanesh Kumar has the patronage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Rahul Gandhi said "Gyanesh Kumar has to go" and his resignation is certain. According to him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will himself tender the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar in the coming time. He called upon the Congress workers and leaders to take the issue to the people.
Rahul Gandhi also repeated his "vote theft" charge over alleged irregularities in the electoral process. He claimed that serious questions have been raised about the deletion of a large number of people from the electoral rolls. In the recent past, he also cited the example of Delhi's Bela Estate, where according to him, 727 names out of 728 people were deleted from the draft voter list after the SIR.
