New Delhi, September 25, 2026: The confrontation between the Election Commission and the Congress over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has now reached the streets. The Congress on Friday held nationwide protests in several states, including Delhi, demanding the resignation, removal and action against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Congress workers were seen marching towards the Election Commission offices in several cities, including Delhi, Lucknow, Patna, Kolkata, Guwahati, Dehradun, Jammu and Chandigarh.
In Delhi, Congress and Indian Youth Congress workers marched towards the Election Commission. The protesters tried to break through the barricades, after which the police increased security to stop them. In Delhi, the Congress registered its protest with slogans and posters like "Gyanesh Kumar Hatao, EC Bachao."
